About This Blog

Dr. Flowers has been involved with preparing students for the MCAT since 1971. He has worked extensively with programs interested in helping minority students prepare for medical school. His primary efforts began in the 1970’s with the Harvard Health Careers Summer Program under the direction of the late Dr. William Wallace. In 1976, he published his first MCAT preparation book, A Comprehensive Preparation for the MCAT. This book actually became a model for other MCAT prep books which followed. Since that time he has authored or co-authored three additional distinct MCAT Prep books that have about 20 different editions in total. He has lectured extensively from coast to coast on the MCAT and how to take it successfully.

Currently, he is the creator of the drflowersmcat.com (DFM) with Genesis E-Learning Systems (GELS). The DFM is a comprehensive online MCAT prep system based on his 35 plus years of work in this field. Still in medical practice, he works full-time in urgent care at Advance Medical Clinic in Pahrump, Nevada, and works part-time at the Las Vegas Recovery Center.

Dr. Flowers was graduated by St Norbert College in Depere, Wisconsin with a degree in chemistry. He then spent a year at Dartmouth College in graduate studies in chemistry before deciding to go to medical school. He was graduated by the Harvard Medical School with a MD degree and concurrently received a MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health. He was a participant in the select Harvard-MIT Program in Health Sciences and Technology. He did his residency in internal medicine at Mt Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee which is part of the University of Wisconsin Medical School. There he served as Chief Resident in medicine and is board certified in internal medicine. Later, he also became certified by the American Society of Addition Medicine in Addictionology.
